SPONSOR A CHILD IN GUATEMALA - £22 PER MONTH

Josue at schoolStreet Kids Direct supports the Mi Arca project in Guatemala and Duncan (one of the Street Kids Direct trustees) volunteers with them full-time.

The Mi Arca project supports many high-risk children and children who are leaving the streets in Guatemala City and we need to find the funds to support them in school.  Since many will have missed the opportunity to go to school we would like to offer them a great education at either a government school, private school run by a charity or a private school.

Would you like to sponsor a boy or a girl in Guatemala with our partner Global Care?  You will receive a letter from your child, photo and report on their progress together with a country report.  Your support each month will go towards helping not only your sponsored child but one other who needs a basic starter kit to start primary school.

Sponsorship costs £22 per month. If you would like to sponsor one of the children in GUATEMALA please follow this link to the Global Care Sponsorship site.

SPONSOR A CHILD IN THE MANUELITO CHILDREN'S HOME - £22 PER MONTH

Juan

"Living on the streets is like living all alone in the world. There is no-one who can advise you. You are always thinking this could be your last day as anyone could come along and kill you or do something bad to you.”  Juan Manuel

Juan Manuel lived on the streets for two years – years of hunger, fear and drug abuse – before he found a refuge at the Manuelito project. Now he is a healthy, happy teenager with a massive grin – and a desire to go on to university, and eventually, to help other vulnerable children on the streets.

The Manuelito project is a haven for children like Juan Manuel. There are currently around 30 children of school age living there. They work hard at school, catching up on their missing years of education, and contribute to chores around the home, and on the small farm which is a valuable source of food and income for the project. It’s a simple life – and it’s a world away from the dangers of the streets.

Manuelito began as the vision of Pastor Jorge Pinto and his church in Tegucigalpa, the capital of Honduras. They began reaching out to the children they saw on the streets around them, and were deeply disturbed by their stories. Initially children began to live above the church, but when funds were raised to buy land outside the capital, Manuelito was built.

manuelitofamilyglobalcarelogoGlobal Care has partnered with Street Kids Direct and became involved with the Manuelito Project in 2009, as staff were struggling to find on-going funding. Today, through child sponsorship, we support more than 20 of the children. But more sponsors are urgently needed. By sponsoring a child at Manuelito, you are giving a former street child a fresh start, supporting their living costs, education and healthcare.

Sponsorship costs £22 per month. If you would like to sponsor one of the children in HONDURAS follow this link to the Global Care Sponsorship site.
